今回ご紹介するのは、今ではほとんど目にすることのない「ジャズネップ糸」を用いて織り上げた、特別なチェック生地です。
ジャズネップ糸とは、反毛によって再生された綿とポリエステルをブレンドし、特殊な紡績技術によって作られる混紡糸の一種です。
その表面には、不規則に現れるネップや節（ふし）が浮かび、まるで長い時間をかけて育まれたヴィンテージ生地のような趣を感じさせます。
本来、この糸はコストを抑えるための素材として生まれたとも言われています。
しかし、いま改めてこの糸に触れてみると、ポリエステルを含むことで得られる軽さと速乾性、そして揺らぎのある豊かな表情が、現代のファッションにおいても新たな価値を持つことに気づかされます。
繊維のわずかなムラやネップは、工業製品のような均一さとは対極にありながら、人の手が介在するものづくりならではの温もりや個性を宿しています。
まるで、過去の時代を静かに語りかけてくるような、深みのある表情。

The fabric introduced here is a rare creation woven with a now nearly unobtainable yarn: Jazz Nep.
Originally developed using reclaimed cotton and polyester through a recycling process known as hammou (fiber tearing), Jazz Nep yarn is characterized by its unique unevenness—irregular slubs and neps that create a spontaneous texture across the surface.
Though once regarded as a cost-saving material, today its inherent qualities—lightweight comfort, quick-drying performance, and rich visual texture—are being rediscovered and reappreciated.
The neps and slubs are not flaws but features—marks of time and tactility that evoke the aged charm of well-worn garments.
Rather than uniformity, the fabric embraces the beautiful irregularity born from human hands and analog machinery, creating a texture that feels both nostalgic and alive.

시간을 직조하다 – 재즈 네프 원사로 완성한 체크 원단
일본의 패션은 디자인뿐만 아니라, 섬유와 질감, 직조 그 자체가 가진 아름다움에 깊은 가치를 두고 발전해 왔습니다.
Shuttle Notes는 1948년 설립된 이래로, 직조라는 조용한 장인정신을 통해 시대를 초월하는 원단을 만들어 왔습니다.
이번에 소개하는 제품은, 지금은 거의 생산되지 않는 희귀한 원사인 재즈 네프(Jazz Nep) 를 사용한 특별한 체크 원단입니다.
재즈 네프는 폐면섬유와 폴리에스터를 반모하여 혼합한 재활용 혼방사로, 불규칙한 슬럽과 네프가 만들어내는 독특한 질감이 특징입니다.
당시에는 원가 절감을 위한 소재로 여겨졌지만, 현재는 오히려 가볍고 빠르게 마르는 기능성과 빈티지한 표정이 살아 있는 외관이 재조명되고 있습니다.
이러한 네프와 불균일함은 결점이 아닌, 오히려 시간의 흔적과 손길이 담긴 ‘표현’으로서의 아름다움을 전달합니다.
