この生地に使用しているのは、先染めの糸を双糸に撚り合わせた撚杢糸。2色の異なる糸を撚り合わせることで、単色では表現しきれない複雑な色合いや奥行きが生まれます。
撚杢糸には、偶然が生むような自然な濃淡があり、織り上げた際の表情は唯一無二。さらに双糸にすることで強度とふくらみが増し、生地としての安定感と上質な風合いが両立しています。
平織りという選択──ミニマルの中にある個性
ベースとなる組織は「平織り」。最もシンプルでありながら、撚杢糸の表情を最大限に引き出す最適な織り方です。糸の撚れによって現れる微細なムラや杢調のニュアンスが、平織りのフラットな構造の中で際立ちます。
シンプルでありながら、どこか奥ゆかしさを感じさせる。その美しさは、見る角度や光の当たり方によっても微妙に変化し、着る人の個性に寄り添います。

そしてこの生地の最大の特徴は、シャトル織機で丁寧に織り上げているという点です。耳付きの生地が示すように、旧式のシャトル織機を用いた織布は、生産効率こそ高くありませんが、糸にかかるテンションが低いため、糸本来の風合いや柔らかさをそのまま活かすことができます。
現代の高速織機では表現しきれない、ふくらみのある柔らかなタッチ。それは、時間と手間を惜しまず向き合うことでしか生まれない、まさに“手のかかる”一品です。

Yarn-Dyed Mélange in Twisted Double Yarn: A Depth Only Time Can Create
This fabric uses yarn-dyed mélange yarn made by twisting two different colored yarns into one. This method creates a natural irregularity and tonal variation that cannot be replicated by piece-dyeing or printing.
By using twisted double yarn, we achieve a textural richness and color depth that adds dimension to even the simplest of fabrics. The result is a surface with natural mottling and a subtle complexity that evolves with use.
Plain Weave as a Canvas: Quiet Yet Distinctive
We chose plain weave, the most minimal and balanced structure, to highlight the character of the mélange yarn itself. The uniform interlacing structure allows the twisted yarn’s visual complexity to shine without distraction.

What truly sets this fabric apart is that it is woven on shuttle looms, a slower and more deliberate process compared to modern high-speed looms. The shuttle loom’s gentle tension preserves the yarn’s natural softness and volume.
This method produces a selvage fabric—a mark of quality—and results in a fabric that feels soft, full-bodied, and rich to the touch. The process is labor-intensive and time-consuming, but it is precisely this attention to detail that gives the fabric its unique character.

선염 트위스트 멜란지사 – 시간이 만들어낸 깊이 있는 색감
이 원단은 두 가지 색상의 선염사를 꼬아 만든 멜란지 트위스트사를 사용합니다. 이 기법은 일반적인 염색이나 프린팅으로는 표현할 수 없는 자연스러운 농담과 입체감을 만들어냅니다.
트위스트된 복합사는 풍부한 텍스처와 깊이 있는 색상 변화를 연출하며, 심플한 조직 안에서도 세련되고 개성 있는 분위기를 전달합니다. 자연스럽고 오묘한 멜란지 효과는 시간이 지날수록 더욱 멋스럽게 변해갑니다.

조직은 가장 기본적인 평직을 채택했습니다. 균형 잡힌 심플한 구조가 오히려 멜란지사의 색감과 텍스처를 더욱 돋보이게 합니다.
빛과 움직임에 따라 subtly하게 변화하는 외관은, 단순함 속에 숨어 있는 개성을 보여줍니다. 절제된 미학이 살아 숨 쉬는 원단입니다.
셔틀 직기 직조 – 속도보다 정성을 택한 제작 방식
이 원단의 가장 큰 특징은, 셔틀 직기를 통해 정성스럽게 직조되었다는 점입니다. 현대의 고속 직기와 달리, 셔틀 직기는 낮은 장력으로 실의 볼륨감과 자연스러운 부드러움을 그대로 살릴 수 있습니다.
또한, 셀비지(원단 귀) 가 있는 구조로, 고급 원단의 상징이라 할 수 있습니다. 촉감은 부드럽고, 볼륨감이 느껴지는 밀도 있는 텍스처가 완성됩니다. 시간이 오래 걸리고 손이 많이 가지만, 그만큼 원단 하나하나에 깊은 정성이 담겨 있습니다.
